  • Snake Plant

You want green without the guilt, and the snake plant is the most forgiving plant on the shelf. Its tall, upright leaves handle low light, dry air and the occasional forgotten week. Care card: let the soil dry out completely, then water, which usually means every two to three weeks. Overwatering is the only real way to hurt it. Bonus: its clean, architectural shape fits any style.

  • Golden Pothos

You are warm, adaptable and a little bit extra, just like pothos. Its heart-shaped leaves trail beautifully from shelves and grow fast, even in lower light. Care card: water when the top inch of soil is dry, and if the leaves droop, it is telling you it is thirsty. Try this: snip a vine just below a node, set it in a glass of water and share a new plant with a friend.

  • Monstera

You love a room with personality, and a monstera brings instant jungle energy. Its big, split leaves get more dramatic as it matures. Care card: bright, indirect light, water when the top couple of inches are dry, and give it room to spread. Wipe the leaves now and then so they stay glossy. Add a moss pole when it starts to climb and it will reward you with even bigger leaves.

  • Fiddle Leaf Fig

You are consistent, detail-loving and ready for a plant with presence. The fiddle leaf fig is the tall, sculptural star of design magazines, and it thrives on routine. Care card: bright light near a window, water when the top inch or two is dry, and once you find a spot it likes, do not move it. It can sulk and drop leaves after a change. Rotate it a quarter turn each month so it grows straight.

  • Succulent Trio

You have bright light and a busy schedule, which is exactly what succulents want. Plump leaves store water, so they shrug off a missed week or two. Care card: as much sun as you can give them, gritty fast-draining soil and a deep watering only when the soil is completely dry. Start with three different shapes in one shallow pot for an instant mini garden.
